What is Fire Glass?
Fire Glass is made from tempered glass and manufactured to withstand harsh weather and extreme temperatures without sustaining any damage or discoloration. It also does not emit any harmful chemicals, smoke, soot, or ash.
Fire Glass, also commonly known as fireplace glass or fire pit glass, can be used in fireplaces & fire pits both indoor & outdoor, in landscaping, aquariums, & even in art projects! The maintenance is also little-to-none with just a simple rinse of a 50:50 water/vinegar mix.
Fire Glass is not just beautiful to look at, it’s also extremely practical. Use Fire Glass to cover the entire floor of the fire feature to hide any unseemly pies or tubes that are often visible in gas fireplaces & fire pits. We recommend to completely cover your burner and then add about 1-2 inches of fire glass on top of that.
Quarter-Inch Clasic Fire Glass
Our Quarter-Inch and Half-inch classic fire glass have a similar function to the premium fire glass, but a different look and fashion. While premium fire glass causes a reflection that allows the glass to glare around and capture more attention, classic fire glass is less reflective and absorbs the light of the flames rather than reflecting it.
However, trust us when we say that a little less twinkle from the glass is not a bad thing! The glass looks just as magnificent when illuminated by the flames of a fire as reflective glass does.

How much Fire Glass do I need for my fire feature?
Use our handy fire glass calculator to determine how much fire glass you or your clients will need for your fire feature.
What is the difference between 10 pound bags of fire glass and 10 pound jars of fire glass?
The only difference is the packaging. The fire glass is the exact same. Jars are typically used to display in stores & bags are mostly used for shipping direct.
What types of fuel can be used with American Fire Glass?
Fire glass can be used with natural gas or propane.
Can I use fire glass with my ceramic logs or lite stone balls?
Do not place anything above the fire glass, that traps more heat, and the glass can fuse to itself.
Can I use recycled glass indoors?
Recycled Fire Pit Glass is for outdoor use only.
What is the difference between Premium and Classic Fire Glass?
Premium and Reflective are the same thing, it is made from colored glass with a mirrored finish on one side of each piece. Classic Fire Glass is colored glass without a mirrored finish.
Is the Luster Finish the same as the Premium Reflective?
Luster is different than premium/reflective, the luster coating resembles oil on water.
What type of glass works best with propane?
¼” will work with propane, but we recommend larger sizes of fire glass due to propane being heavier than air and the larger pieces give the gas less resistance.
Why Wash/Rinse with 50/50 White Vinegar and Water?
This will avoid water spots and helps to break down ‘soot’ residue.
Do I cover the burner with fire glass?
YES, a burner should NEVER be used unless it is completely covered. A 1/4" diameter media base is strongly recommended to cover the burner before applying the final topping. The media should cover the burner by about 1/2" to 1" before the final topping is added. Our small lava rock works best. Operating a burner without proper coverage can cause warpage and possible permanent damage to the burner and burner pan. This will also void the warranty on the product.

This Product Qualifies For a Lifetime Warranty
Fire glass is a popular alternative to traditional firewood in fire pits, and it has been gaining popularity in recent years. Fire glass is made from tempered glass that is manufactured to withstand high temperatures, making it an ideal material for fire pits. But the question that often arises is how long the fire glass lasts in a fire pit.
The lifespan of fire glass in a fire pit depends on several factors, including the quality of the glass, the size of the fire pit, the intensity of the fire, and how frequently the fire pit is used. High-quality fire glass is made from tempered glass, which is designed to withstand high temperatures without cracking or shattering. Inferior quality fire glass can break easily and may only last a few uses.
The size of the fire pit and the amount of fire glass used also affect how long the fire glass will last. A larger fire pit will require more fire glass, and a smaller fire pit will require less. Additionally, the depth of the fire glass layer will also impact its longevity. A thicker layer of fire glass will take longer to deplete than a thinner layer.
The intensity of the fire also plays a role in how long the fire glass will last. The higher the heat output, the faster the fire glass will deplete. It is important to note that fire glass does not burn like traditional firewood, and it will not add fuel to the fire. Instead, fire glass absorbs and reflects the heat, which helps to distribute the heat more evenly.
Finally, how often the fire pit is used will impact the lifespan of the fire glass. A fire pit that is used frequently will require more fire glass than a fire pit that is used infrequently. It is recommended to regularly check the fire glass for signs of wear and tear, and to replace any broken or damaged pieces.
In conclusion, the lifespan of fire glass in a fire pit depends on various factors, including the quality of the glass, the size of the fire pit, the intensity of the fire, and how frequently the fire pit is used. With proper care and maintenance, fire glass can last for several years, providing a beautiful and functional addition to any outdoor living space.
